Running
& Nature
When feet meet the earth and the heart beats to the rhythm of the mountain, a unique connection is born. For me, running in nature is more than exercise. It is a silent dialogue with landscapes that teach, challenge, and heal.

Challenges in Nature as Therapy

In 2012, I rediscovered a dormant passion that transformed into a philosophy of life. It began with cycling, evolved into hiking, and eventually embraced running, always with a common denominator: nature as both the backdrop and the companion.
Mountains as Masters
Over the years, I have challenged myself in landscapes that are etched not only in my memory, but especially in my soul. From the majestic Atlas Mountains in Morocco (2018) to the snow-capped peaks of Chamonix (2022), passing through the verdant highlands of Andorra (2019) and the volcanic beauty of the Azores - a destination that called to me three times (2019, 2021, 2022) - each race was a life lesson.
On home soil, the mountain ranges of Lousã, Arga, Freita, and Montejunto offered equally enriching challenges, proving that greatness is not measured in altitude, but in the ability to connect with what surrounds us.
Endurance that Transcends the Physical
Every trail covered, every climb conquered, and every limit surpassed functions as a session of natural therapy. Exercise in nature is not limited to strengthening the body. It is a profound encounter with oneself, where physical endurance intertwines with mental resilience.
In the most challenging moments of a race, when legs beg for a truce and lungs crave air, I find parallels with the challenges of daily life. It is where the mountain becomes the therapist, teaching that every obstacle can be overcome, step by step, breath by breath.

Self-knowledge in every stride
Nature has the unique power to strip us of all pretenses and bring us face-to-face with our essence. Far from urban noise and technological distractions, every challenge in the wild becomes an opportunity for introspection. I have discovered that it is in the moments of greatest physical exertion that the mind finds its greatest clarity.
The consistency of these challenges has created a therapeutic ritual: the mental and physical preparation for each race, the overcoming of limits during the course, and the serene reflection that follows.
This cycle has become an inexhaustible source of balance and personal growth.
Nature as Preventive Medicine
Today, I know that these challenges are much more than exercise. They are preventive medicine for the soul. Every trail is a dose of serenity, every mountain conquered is a shot of confidence, and every landscape contemplated is a moment of pure gratitude.
Whether in the Portuguese ranges or on international mountains, the result is always the same: a renewed return, with the certainty that nature remains the best school of life and the most effective of therapies.
There are challenges that diminish us, and there are challenges that make us grow. I always prefer the latter.
